The doctor was afraid of his patient because he was a young black man with a criminal past that suffered from mental illness. 2. How does the title convey the ideas within the story? The title conveys the ideas in the story because the “fear” the doctor had was not fear, the doctor was being prejudice towards the young man. 3. Where was the most tension in the story? The tension in the story came when the young man was describing to the doctor how rough it was growing up in Richmond. The young man lived in fear and constantly had to look over his shoulder and watch his back at all times. The tension continued when he was discussing with the doctor about seeing his grandfather be shot and dying in the upstairs bedroom. 4.What was the outcome of the story? The outcome of the story would be that the young man and the doctor developed a good

Unformatted text preview: relationship over a short period of time. The young man’s life improved after he was prescribed new meds that helped him feel better. His outlook on life was a lot more positive than before. 5. Your favorite line? Why? My favorite line in the story is the young man told the doctor that meeting him was a blessing. I really like that line because it shows that the young man is grateful for the short period of time he spent with the doctor and he was appreciative of the help he received from the doctor. 6. Criticisms of the story? Any? I feel that this story relates to everyone in today’s society because we all prejudge people based off appearances and it’s something that needs to end. Just because you meet someone who comes from a different background than you, it doesn’t make them a bad person. You should get to know someone before judging them....
