The book explains two mechanisms of persuasion peripheral and central. Peripheral persuasion uses superficial factors such as repetition and prestige of speakers. (Kalat, 2017) Central persuasion uses reasoning and evidence to persuade. (Kalat, 2017) With these mechanisms, techniques arise to persuade people. Everyone has fallen victim to persuade techniques. I have fallen victim to Urgency and Scarcity techniques. Urgency is a technique that relies on time. Urgency needs to be used correctly, because people in general do not like being manipulated.
