Apparatus Sketch: Procedure: the objective of this lab is to measure and be able to calculate resistance, impedance, and phase angles. This is all regarding AC circuits and being able to use the oscilloscope to help with the calculations Part 1: 1. Set the resistance to 500 Ohms, capacitor to 0.5 µF, and frequency to 1000 Hz. Channel 1 on the oscilloscope will be your x-value and channel 2 will be your y-value. 2. Set the oscilloscope to x-y mode and measure the phase angle by = sin ɸ ɸ -1 (B/A). the values for A and B can be found on the oscilloscope screen. 3. To find the theoretical phase angle, use = tan ɸ -1 [(2Πfc) -1 /R]. once both the theoretical and experimental phase angles are found, calculate the percent error. 4. Measure the current of the circuit as well as the maximum and AC voltages across the resistor, capacitor and RC combo. Calculate the RMS voltage for each using V RMS = V
