Course Description Atmospheric science is the study of weather, climate, air pollution and other meteorological phenomena that occur on local and global scales and affect our everyday lives. This course introduces the basic principles behind atmospheric science. You wiEI be exposed to the underlying processes that drive Earth's atmosphere and climate. Topics covered include atmospheric composition and structure, wind and pressure, clouds and rain, weather systems and extreme weather events. A special emphasis will be placed on how human activities and pollution can influence the atmosphere and climate. Exams/Grades Exams will be based on the material presented in the class and from the reading assignments. There wiil be 4 in-class exams and a non-comprehensive final exam (see scheduie below for exam dates). ln—class exams: 80% (4 tests at 20% each) Final exam: 20% (non-comprehensive) Grade scale: A=90-100%, B=80-89%, C=70~79%. D=60~69%. F<60% o The instructor reserves the right to curve the grading scale, as needed. o Exams missed for reasons other than a university excused absence will receive a grade of zero.
