The Vietnam War , 1955-1975, was a military conflict between North and South Vietnam, fought to try and stop communism from further spreading throughout Vietnam. A draft , or conscription of men aged 18-26, was in effect when the Vietnam War started. - Social context: War in America is usually attributed to being an opportunity for countrymen and women to fight for their nation and to display their national pride.
