The Institute of Medicine has stated a goal that 90% of practice be evidence-based by 2020. According to HealthyPeople.gov, the United States is currently at approximately 15%. Discuss two barriers that might hold nursing practice from achieving this goal and suggest ways in which identified barriers maybe addressed.Evidence Based Practice (EBP) is defined as making decisions regarding patient care providing evidence from well-designed studies (Green, 2018). The first step in the process of EBP is to provide a culture to incorporate EBP. Once the culture is established implementation of EBP can be established which can lead to higher quality of care and reduction of costs for the organization.
