For the first week assignment, it is my purpose to present four network members, academic or professional, that can fully augment my academic and professional success. The end goal for this expedition with Walden University is to become the best practitioner I am capable of and bring that knowledge and those skills back to my community. I want to serve as a Family Nurse Practitioner in my hometown to give back what has been so freely given to me as a community member during my life here. The following information is delivered as per my interpretation of the assignment rubric. NETWORK MEMBER 1 Name: Ryan Smith Title: Executive Director of Clinical Operations, MSN, MHA Organization: Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) Academic or Professional: Professional Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: I chose Ryan because he was one of the first people I spoke with when I onboarded at TMH. I am a traveler and I
was looking for an assignment closer to home after Hurricane Michael hit. Through some professional connections, Ryan facilitated the onboarding process for me. Since meeting him, he has proven to be very knowledgeable but more so encouraging. One of the first things we talked about was what my plan for the future was. Every time we speak, he expects an update on the progress towards my goals. Having held many leadership positions in his nine years at TMH, both as a staff nurse and a master’s level nurse, his experience and leadership will prove invaluable during my time at Walden.
