Kirsten Wing A37359474 Nov. 19 th , 2007 ENG 203 Sec. 002 My America My America is one in which individual goals and achievements are valued above all. My America is one that looks only at outward appearances when judging a human. My America is one in which corporate greed gluttony rule and the little man is forgotten. Anything is possible in my America, for a price. We are a culture dominated by advertisements of the perfect job, the perfect body, the perfect love, the perfect life. If American’s would just take a moment to appreciate what they already have, instead of constantly focusing on what they don’t maybe we’d be a lot more happy with our lives. We are a culture that is obsessed with the female body, more specifically, the perfect female body. It is a universal idea that good-looking people are perceived as better or smarter but, the images that magazines and movies sell us is of a feminine body that has been tucked, tightened, enlarged, and airbrushed.
