RUNNING HEADER: ATHEISM Atheism Colorado Christian University Janine Bratlee Pomeroy 1
ATHEISM When thinking about what Atheism is, it is important to understand the definition. Atheism is disbelief or lack of belief in God or gods. When thinking back to the conversation I have had on a plane with a passenger who did not believe in God and called herself a devout atheist, I am reminded of my rationalization of why God is real. Some of those included, creationand how he pursues us. In my own life, I have seen first-hand the miracles that God performs on a daily basis. I have two miracles, both of my daughters. My oldest daughter was born 9 weeks early, she died several times in the NICU and yet, she is here still 10 years of being here in fact. I remember crying out to God in the scariest moments of her first hours of life. In those moments, I cried out to God that how could he do this me, how could he give me the most precious gift and then take her away over and over again. It was in those moments of my life that I myself questioned if Godwas real. One argument that is valid of God being real is that of creation. Atheists claim that creation happened by the big bang. That there was one explosion and everything was created.
