Michael Latch Stefan ShieldsNick Dangelo Net NeutralityThe concept of net neutrality and if it is owed to American citizens is a topic that has been widely contested in the past decade. Net neutrality refers to the idea that internet access should be free and equal to all consumers and that service providers should not have the ability to speed up, slow down, or restrict access to certain websites (Clark). As we move into an era where large broadband companies have, essentially, an oligarchic control over how modern-day consumers access the internet, it becomes the responsibility of the government to decide to what degree these companies can manipulate internet access to its customer through regulations. The regulation and deregulation of broadband companies ebbs and flows as different administrations roll through the White House, the first of which was during the Bush and Obama Administration.Both the Bush-era and Obama-era Federal Communications Committee (FCC) attempted to pass
