Math 32A: General Information: Math 32A treats topics related to differential calculus in several variables, including curves in the plane, curves and surfaces in space, various coordinate systems, partial differentiation, tangent planes, and direc- tional derivatives. The course culminates with the solution of optimatization problems with the method of Langrange multipliers. Instructor : Zhen-Su She, Professor, MS7620C, 310-8258576, [email protected] Office Hours : Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3-4pm at MS7620C for the Instructor. For special appointment, you may contact the instructor by email or phone. Grading will be based on : top 6 out of 8 weekly quizzes (total of 20% of the grade) 2 (50 minuits each) mid-term exams (20% each) 3-hour final exam (40%). Final course grades will be assigned in roughly the following percentages: 30% A’s, 30% B’s, and 40% C’s and below. The Mathematics Department uses plus-minus grading, that is, A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc. Exam Schedule: Midterm 1, Wednesday, Jan. 30, class time; Midterm 2, Wednesday, Feb. 20, class time; Final, Monday, Mar. 17, 11:30am-2:30pm Quizzes and Exams Policies: There will be no make-up exams or quizzes. Please make sure that you are able to attend both exams
