Mar 31, 2008 – cdb WELCOME TO PHYSICS 1A --- SPRING 2008 SYLLABUS We will cover the first 12 chapters of Young and Freedman “University Physics”, Volume 1, either Custom Edition for UCLA (in UCLA bookstore) or 12 th edition . Goals: Understand some of the history and philosophy of physics and science Understand Newtonian Mechanics and where it fits into physics Develop physics intuition and “visualization” Learn to calculate --- to problem solve See “physics around us” in our everyday world. Class meets MTWF 2:00-2:50 in Kinsey Pavilion 1220. Instructor : Charles Buchanan. Knudsen 4-145(North). 310-825-7466. Office Hours: MTWF 3:00-4:15.
