Exam I Review KINE – 303 Physiology of Exercise Spring 2007 Exam I Review Chapters: 9, 10, 11, 14 Please use this review as a resource to help you prepare for Exam I. This review is NOT all inclusive. Please review the chapters & lecture material and labs in order to have the depth of information necessary for this exam. The exam will consist of multiple choice, true/ false, and short answer questions. Chapter 9 What is an action potential? What is the role of an action potential in muscle contraction? Be familiar with synaptic transmission, the chemical synapse, and neurotransmitters. What role does acetylcholine play in muscle contraction? Components of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Chapter 10 Be able to describe, in detail, the structure – morphology-architecture of skeletal muscle. What occurs at the neuromuscular junction? Muscle contraction sliding filament theory, excitation contraction coupling For example, what occurs, where the different stages take place, the role of ATP, ADP, Pi, changes in actin and myosin.
