The article I chose to review is titled “Film Industry in Oklahoma Likely to Get Boost: Once Bill Signed,” by Jerry Shottenkirk. The article reveals that by passing Senate Bill 623, Oklahoma has taken a major step in order to increase film production within the state. Oklahoma hopes to increase film production, jump-start the industry, and have an economic boom by making more films eligible for incentives. The first connection to the article is related to market segmentation. New incentives for film makers and lower production costs suggest that Oklahoma is trying to attract more diverse market segments. By using the five-step approach to market segmentation, Oklahoma’s film industry will have a better chance for long term growth. Another connection related to the article is that Oklahoma is adjusting to their pull factors based on the film companies push factors.
