members of the fraternity ΛΔΞ. A random sample of size 70 was selected from the membership of each
fraternity (two samples, each of size 70). The members from fraternity ΣΘΞ consumed an average of
160 ounces of beer with a standard deviation of 20 ounces. The members of fraternity ΛΔΞ consumed
an average of 152 ounces with standard deviation of 23 ounces. Based on this results, is the claim of
fraternity house ΣΘΞ justified? Assess at a 5% significance level.
Compute a 92% confidence interval for the mean for ΣΘΞ minus the mean for ΛΔΞ.

A large university takes a simple random sample of female students, and another simple random
sample of male students. The sample sizes are 200 and 300, respectively. As it turns out, 107 of the
