As part of a gasohol manufacturing process, a mixture of 10 wt% ethanol and 90% water is distilled to yield a product stream consisting of 60 wt% ethanol and a waste stream with a lower ethanol content. The mass flow rate of the feed stream is 1000 kg/h and the ratio of the feed stream to product stream mass flow rates is 10:1. (a) Draw and label a flowchart of this process, and do the degree-of-freedom analysis. (b) Find the mass flow rate and composition (component mass fractions) of the waste stream, and the mass flow rate of the product stream. 2.
