Abstract This experiment was performed to understand the effects substances on urine production. Different liquids containing caffeine and solutes were tested. The different types of liquids were water, tea, Gatorade, and fruit punch. Each person drank one liter of their assigned liquid within several minutes. At 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 120 min, and 150 min the volume of urine was measured. The results showed that the people who drank tea, which contained caffeine, had the highest volume of urine, 820.5 mL. The people that drank fruit punch had the lowest volume of urine, 582.4 mL. This can lead to the conclusion that due to caffeine in the tea, the people that drank tea urinated more compared to people who drank water, Gatorade, or fruit punch.
