Lauleh Aslani Biol 120 Sec 5 Effect of Different Levels of KCl on Stomatal Aperture Abstract This experiment was conducted to find out the response of faba bean ( Vicia faba ) guard cells to different potassium concentrations. We measured the response of the faba bean by measuring the width of the open stomata. We hypothesized that if the more potassium in a concentration, then the stomata will open wider. We has three replicates of treatment one which was 35mM KCl and three replicates of treatment two which was 5mM KCl. Our control included three replicates of water. Petri dishes were filled with the control and test solutions. With using a leaf of faba bean, a cut was made along the vein with a scalpel. A gentle cut was made on the surface to peel of the first layer. The epidermal peels were cut into little squares and three epidermal peels were placed in each Petri dish. The Petri dishes were incubated for twenty minutes. After the incubation a wet mount was made and they were observed under microscopes. The width of the stomata
