Communication Styles2 Abstract There are over a billion people in this world, and not one with the same thought or idea on agreat many of things. Everyone has their own unique style of approaching a situation,communicating their thoughts and ideas, and coming up with a plan to find a solution. Thepurpose of this assignment is to share our communication styles and reflect on how it may affecthow we work with others and ideas on how to improve our communication to help create aneven more positive, effective, and organized environment for all.
Communication Styles3 When We Work TogetherAfter taking the DISC Personality Test, my results showed that my communication style is supportive, dominant, and cautious. According to the DISC profile overview, a person with a steadiness style emphasizes on stability, patience, opportunities to help others, and loyalty. But they also fear change and offending others. A person with a dominant style is said to accept challenges, are competitive, value competency, and is direct. The people with this style also fear being seen as vulnerable to other people and being taken advantage of. And people with a cautious style value quality, are careful and cautious when working, and motivated by opportunities to gain knowledge and show their skills. These people fear criticism and being wrong. When I first read through some of the descriptions of each of these traits, I immediately thought to myself, some of these things do not describe me at all. Then I gave myself a moment to think about my last couple of sessions with my clients from work. After that brief moment of reflection, I realized I may not agree with some of the descriptions of these traits, but it does not make me a bad communicator. There are many different communication styles and not one is
