New Technology Impacts on Understanding Child Pornography 2IntroductionChild pornography refers to pornography that is intended to exploit children (Armstrong & Mellor, 2016). Child pornography is a crime in all parts of the world since it incorporates sexual acts on minors and sexual assault on minors. The cases of child pornography have exponentially increased over the years due to new cutting edge technology that helps groomers perpetrate their acts and upload content for public viewing. It was reported in 2018 that the National Crime agency witnessed a 700 per cent increase in the number of referrals of images that contain child sexual abuse content. The rapid increase in the number of child offenders amid cutting edge technology that could prevent the rampantly escalating cases of child abuse shows the reluctance of web giants in implementing the necessary measures to curb child pornography. New technology such as surveillance systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence and social media influences our comprehension of child pornography in the context of gender and sexuality. The following paper contends that new technology inspires an understanding of child pornography as a tool that promotes the dominance and superiority of masculinity over femininity. Gender refers to the aspects of masculinity and femininity (Akdeniz, 2016). Society presumes that people should behave in a certain way depending on the way they look. For instance, men should look and portray masculinity through their actions. On the other hand, society anticipates that women should exemplify femininity through their actions and looks. However, everyone has a different expression of masculinity and femininity and thus the gender conflict. Therefore, fundamentally, gender entails people’s sense of who they are either as a guy, a girl or something else. Gender surpasses the appearance of an individual as a result of physical traits, genes and hormones. Although we may expect men to feel masculine and women to feel feminine, sometimes a woman may feel masculine, and a man

Sexuality refers to the preferences of people with regards to the category of people they are attracted to romantically (Faust et al., 2015 ). A large percentage of people in the world are attracted to people of the opposite sex. Such is referred to as either straight or heterosexual. On the other hand, other people are normally drawn to people of the same sex.
