WEEK 7 ASSIGNMENT2Helen Petrakis is a 52 year old married woman with three adult children all livingtogether in the family home. Helen is of Greek descent and is very culturally connected andextremely devoted to the care of her adult children, husband, and her81 year old mother in law,Magda. Helen has worked full time all of her adult life and is rooted in her community withmany friends. Helen demonstrates high regard and spirited pride for her adult children describingher eldest son is 27 year old Alec who is unemployed due to the unstable economy. Helenidentifies her middle child is 23 years old, beautiful, smart, talented and hardworking at localdepartment store.Helen’s youngest child is 18 years old, described as academically gifted,attending school and earns money working as a hostess at a local restaurant. Helen prides herselfin her ability to care for everyone and maintains her household. Recently things have becomemore challenging 6 months ago when Magda suffered a fall resulting in significant hip injury andsubsequent physical limitations and is also in the early stages of dementia. Helen has foundherself feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and distressed because of her inability to do everything.Helen reached out to a friend for support who suggested she seek assistance, which lead her totalk with a social worker. Helen is not normally agreeable to sharing her life concerns andstruggles with a stranger, but she was also not comfortable drainig her friends with her burdens.The Petrakis is described as a sandwich generation and Helen has taken on the biggestresponsibilities and added tasks to ensure the family is cared for. Helen has identified theresponsibilities have grown and now are more than she can handle independently. Despite her
