SETTINGS2Free and Appropriate Public EducationThe Individual with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA) was developed to provide furtherprotections for those with disabilities.IDEA has a policy where zero children who are eligiblewith a disability can be rejected for Free and Appropriate Public Education(FAPE)(Yell, 2016).This was designed to include all kids with disabilities in public education and not isolate thechildren into separate schools with a different curriculum.This setup safeguards for the familiesof with disabilities to have their children evaluated, receive an Individualized EducationPlan(IEP), or have an option to have their child evaluated without expense to them.There areprovisions under IDEA that require the child with a disability to be placed in the LeaseRestrictive Environment(LRE) which would include inclusive classrooms for those withdisabilities to be with non-disabled peers(Yell, 2016).The components of FAPE are first that it is free.The district can not charge the parentsfor the services that their child is legally obligated to be provided.The school could face legalramifications if they had an IEP meeting with the team and hinted towards the parents of servicesthat may not be able to be provided due to monetary reasons(Yell, 2016).The second componentis that it is provided by public education.If a family decides to transfer their child into a privateinstitution that school is not required to provided special education support and services.The
