TASK 3 2 A1. Country to Compare I will be comparing United States healthcare system to Japan’s healthcare system. A2. Access Japanese government regulates all areas of the health care system. Coverage can be obtained through an employer or by signing up for Japan's community-based insurance. Community insurance is available to everyone, including the unemployed, retired citizens, and children. Citizens of Japan can gain free access to healthcare. Also, non-citizens who have lived in Japan for longer than one year have access to free healthcare. U.S. residents receive healthcare coverage through private voluntary health insurance, employer-provided insurance, or acquired coverage directly. Public programs are available such as Medicare, Medicaid, direct-purchase, and military coverage. Children that live in the U.S. receive insurance through their parent's insurance or private insurance companies. Some families who come from a low-income may qualify for Medicaid, or children's Health insurance program.
