TASK 3
2
A1. Country to Compare
I will be comparing United States healthcare system to Japan’s healthcare system.
A2. Access
Japanese government regulates all aspects of the health care system. Everyone is covered
and participates with the plans; plans are based on employment status.
Undocumented
immigrants and visitors are not covered in any plan. Citizens of Japan have free access to
healthcare. Also, non-citizens who have lived in Japan for longer than one year have access to
free healthcare.
U.S. residents received healthcare coverage through private voluntary health insurance,
employer-provided insurance, and acquired coverage directly. Public programs: Medicare-
covered, Medicaid, direct-purchase, and military coverage.
Children that live in the U.S. receive insurance through their parent's insurance or private
insurance company. Some families who come from a low-income may qualify for Medicaid, or
children's Health insurance program.
