Patient case
“An 87-year -old African-American female, with a history of bipolar disorder,
Hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and gout presented to our inpatient psychiatric hospital.
The patient was transferred to our facility from the clinical trial research facility to my unit
for long-term medication management and stabilization. Information gathered from the
family reveals that the patient has a progressive decompensated, refusing oral intake of food
for the past 48 hours, but accepting her medication, demonstrating poor insight and poor
judgment, increased confusion and isolative to her room.”
Factors affecting Pharmacokinetic processes
A drug goes through the process of Absorption, Distribution Metallization, and
