The Taisho Era:
As you recall from the notes, the Taisho period began in 1912 after the death of the Meiji emperor, and
lasted until 1926, when the Taisho emperor died.
Some historians call the period that roughly
corresponds with his rule (particularly 1918-1932) ‘Taisho Democracy,’ because of an at least temporary
opening of society and increase in political participation.
