1Peer Reviewed Article:When researching for medical journals, I often use the Ebscohostdata base. I then use Medlinewith full text to find specific articles. One article of interest to me wastitled “Utilization and Economic Contribution of Psychiatric Mental Health NursePractitioners in Public Behavioral Health Services”. The article discusses research conducted on the evolution of the PMHNP role. They cite the Affordable Care Act as opening the door for more care to be provided by the PMHNP, as the stigma surrounding mental health is decreasing. The research concluded that the role of PMHNPsis currently being underutilized, as they are primarily used for medication management. To address the issue, the authors suggest greaterunderstanding of their roleand addressing barriers to practice is needed (Chapman, S. A., Phoenix, B. J., Hahn, T.E., & Strod, D. C., 2018).While searching for this article, it was easy to find information on my topics of interest using the database. It wasn't exactly clear how to find the entire article, however, after several clicks, I was able to locate it through Walden’s library. As an onlinestudent, endeavoring forward through the computer is my daily task to research. Not fearing the process of the search often helps me find a wealth of knowledge previously unknown. Research shows the ability and aptitude of onlinestudents is equivalent to traditional learning methods, however, onlinestudents are more skilled in their abilities to self-manage their time, while being proactive learners (Munro, V., Morello, A., Oster, C., Redmond, C., Vnuk, A., Lennon, S., & Lawn, S., 2018).Medlineplus with full text is a great resource I would recommend. The best part of Medlineis the ability to find articles within the database that are geared toward medical professions while also having the ability to find full-text articles. Through using clinical research, providers are able to promote health care by sharing their clinical knowledge with others. This benefits society by targeting specific gaps in care by asking the right questions. Ultimately, the quality of care is increased while decreasing the amount of time
2spent in hospitals or need to be seen by providers, as the information can be used to find treatment modalities that have proven effective through past clinical research (Why is research important?, 2019).References:Chapman, S.
