WEBINAR ON THE DANGERS OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTESThe scholarly activity that this writer wanted to document was a webcast from the CDC that I listened to ( https://).This was not a nursing conference, or interdisciplinary meeting, but this writer feels this was timely and important information that all nurses should be aware of so they can educate their patients and the community.The webinar was significantly important to all nurses and health care professionals. As nurses we deal with many patients as well as co-workers who smoke and use vaping products, containingtobacco products and or cannabis products. This writer is aware of, many of the nurses’ smoke and a fewwho even vape. As of Sept. 1, we finally became a smoke free facility, much to this writer’s joy, because as a person with asthma, it was difficult to walk through a cloud of smoke just to get inside of work.According to Dr. Anne Schuchat of the CDC, the CDC is in the midst of a complex investigation spanning almost all the United States in regard to the latest cases if death and lung injury that is associated with the use of e-cigarettes and or vaping products. As of September 24, there has been 805 cases of lung injury that are confirmed as as being associated with e-cigarettes and or vaping products. These cases were reported by 46 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. According Schuchat, there are many chemicals in these products, and uses cannot be sure exactly just what it is they are vaping. These products are being marketed to and used by young people. In ten U.S. states, so far there have been 12 deaths confirmed in 10 states. More than two thirds of the patients with lung injury related to e-cigarettes or vaping are males, with a median age of 23 years. About 62% of the patients were age 18 to
