Running Head: Assessment Tools & Diagnostic Tests2As advanced practice nurses (APNs), it is imperative that we provide a safe and quality care to each patient in our care. Therefore, it is important to have in place effective tools that would focus on the quality and safety in health assessment, as well as measure the clinical competences and theoretical knowledge advanced practitioners. APNs should recognize that clinical practices make use of numerous diagnostic tests, some for screening, and some for confirmation of disease(Hazra and Gogtay, 2017). According to Ball et al. (2019), inspection is the process of observation, while palpitation is the use of hand and fingers to gather information through touch, percussion involves striking against an object to cause vibration and subsequent sound waves, and auscultation is the use of hearing to listen to sounds of the body. Since crucial therapeutic decisions will often be based on diagnostic tests, it is imperative for clinicians to understand the strengths and limitations of every test they use so as to maintain its reliability and sensitivity. In the simplest scenario, a diagnostic test should give either a positive or negative result or reading that makes disease either likely or unlikely (Hazra & Gogtay 2017). In this week’s assignement, Iwould elaborate on the diagnostic test mammogram. What Is The Purpose Of A Mammogram And What Information Does It Garther?A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. It can be used to check for breast cancer in women who have no signs or symptoms of the disease. This type of mammogram is called screening mammogram, which usually involve two or more x-ray pictures, or images of each breast. The x-ray images often make it possible to detect tumors that cannot be felt. Screening mammograms can also find microcalcifications that sometimed indicate the presence of breast
