Etoro is an online social trading platform that mainly focuses on trading stocks as well as trade copying. It has offices spread across many countries including Cyprus, UK and Israel. It provides portfolios of recognized stock traders as well as information of the current stock market in real time. Threat 1 With one of the registered offices being in Tel Aviv, Israel the website is prone to many complex issues due to the current political situation between Israel and Palestine as it is located close to areas prone to missile attacks such as the capital Jerusalem. In 2019, there were reported rocket attacks from Palestine in the months of March where two rockets were launched from the Gaza strip that hit the Iron Dome (Kubovich, 2019), In May where 600 rockets were launched which resulted to 23 people were killed (Carey, 2019), as well as in September in which 7 were injured (Hayom, 2019). Many buildings were also damaged during the attacks, which makes Etoro a viable target to be struck upon if there were to be another missile attack centered around Tel Aviv. These political disasters sets Etoro in a high risk environment and may disrupt their website and corrupt the user databases, given that there are several databases kept in separate locations . In the event that it does happen, it sets Etoro to be prone to vicious social outrage from the likes of investors and peers in that they may lose their deposited money on these stocks as the network is unable to recover what is left within the website. Etoro would then have to deal with many complex issues in order to recover and satisfy the users of the website again. A second registered office in Cyprus also does not guarantee Etoro’s safety, as one of the missiles was found to have struck a hill in Cyprus reported to be from Syria’s civil war outcome (Smith, 2019). With the war that has been ongoing since 2011, the conflict does not guarantee Etoro’s safety as the war may escalate at any moment leaving Cyprus vulnerable. This puts Cyprus in a similar situation as the Tel Aviv’s office as they are still within the range of any missile attacks from Syria. The ongoing 45-year ethnic dispute between the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots may also cause problems within the island as there are many tensions between the two due to the different rights in their given territories of the island (Chan, 2016). Employees of the company may
become involved in the dispute due to political differences, which can possibly contribute to many internal issues within the company.
