The rulesspecified by the congress in the United States should arguably be stricter. This calls for adeliberation that the laws and regulations ad stipulating the possession and issuance of firearmsto mentally unstable persons and individuals admitted in mental institutions should either bebarred; better supervised; revised or overturned since the mental defectiveness may deem theseindividuals incapable of handling themselves. Possession of firearms by the mentally defective might put the society in danger if astrategy is not established to examine the issuance process correctly. Additionally, the mentallydefective owning a gun may because of danger for themselves as they are sometimes not able toconduct themselves (Berman, 2019). The question of gun ownership by mentally defectiveindividuals in the United States is an issue that needs to be addressed. This issue will remain achallenge if all the citizens remain unaware of it. The mass shootings caused by the possession offirearms by the mentally challenged will not cease any time soon if the laws are not revised andthe issuance well supervised.
