Many of you have experience in complex adaptive systems whether you realize it or not. Thinking about your future practice specialty area, identify an issue or concern common to your future practice setting. (Note: This can be the same practice issue identified in Week 5.) In your initial response, please identify your specialty track, as well as the issue or concern. Discuss howthis issue or concern impacts the system at the micro, meso, and macro levels. How will you address this issue or concern at the microsystem level? What is the expected impact of your solution on the meso- and macrosystems? Remember you can use an information technology-based solution to address the issue or concern.Professor Holllingquest and Class,I have chosen the educator track because I have always enjoyed teaching and am in pursuit to become a clinical educator. One issue that has been identified within this area is with a lack of qualified nursing preceptors. The role of a preceptor comes with expectations of the registered nurse. The preceptor should be experienced, model professionalism, and have yearned to teach. However, not all nurses have a desire to precept students for many of reasons, such as the added workload and lack of feeling valued for taking on the extra responsibility of precepting (Tracey & McGowan, 2015). According to Bengtsson and Carlson (2015), preceptors reported the supervision of students to be stressful, difficult, and burdensome at times. With these concerns ofpreceptors, there is a deficiency in the number of qualified preceptors for students. This delinquency of willing nurse preceptors influences the micro level, the unit in which the student is placed because it puts a strain on the preceptor as well as the unit and takes away from patient care. For the department of nursing (meso level), it causes tension and stress because of the added workload. Assignments may have to be reconfigured in order to meet the demands and
