Having improved patient satisfaction improved the Veterans Affairs (VA) strategic analytics for improvement and learning (SAIL) reports. The SAIL model is a tool used to measure, evaluate and benchmark quality and efficiency within the VA medical centers. Improved patient outcomes would also result in better discharge education. Veterans would get verbal and written instructions and information. The patient would be able to reference the written instructions received at the clinic to answer questions that may come up once at home. This would also improve nurse satisfaction resulting in less post appoint phone calls asking about discharge instructions or questions that they may have.
