HUM 100 Project 1 Artifact Chart Although you will work on various assignments throughout the course to support you in completing this assignment, this project is not due until Week 6. Artifact What is your chosen artifact ? Include a link to or a picture of the artifact. The Statue of Liberty I. Describe the artifact in detail. For instance, how would you describe it to someone who could not see it? The artifact that I chose is the Statue of Liberty which locating on Liberty Island in the harbor of New York City. From tip of the torch held high in her right hand to the base her the pedestal, she stands just over 305 feet. The statue was a gift from France that was created by French sculptor Frederic- Auguste Bartholdi and designed by fellow Frenchman Gustave Eiffel. Her look comes for Libertas, the goddess of Freedom. Known worldwide as a beacon of freedom and hope, she has welcomed many immigrants into the United States from the late 1800’s through the mid 1900’s II. Choose elements of the artifact that you believe are most important to how you experience it and explain why. For instance, what particularly catches your senses or makes you want to keep experiencing it? Does the choice of medium impact your experience? The one of the two elements of the Statue of Liberty that I believe are most importantly is the tablet in her right hand that has the inscription of July 4th, 1776 which is the birthdate of the United States. This inscription in conjunction with the second element, the broken chain shackles at her feet, signified our break from English rule and the start of new country with newfound freedom.
