Social blogs work best in tandemwith different social movements. The social movement this blog will be focusing on is the male to female gender wage gap, why it exists, and how it can be remedied. Trying to rectify the wage wage has been on the feminist social agenda for many years now, and although the gap has diminished in recent years, there is quite a ways to go until complete equity in salary between thesexes is achieved. (Washington Center of Equitable Growth). This is shocking because women actually outnumber men in college. This difference in earning is also explained by choice in fieldof study. Men most commonly go into higher paying fields such a math, science, technology and business. (Washington Center of Equitable Growth). This type of social movement is a reformative social movement. This is a social movement that is focused on a limited or particular social change seeks to effect that change across an entire society (Conley CH.18 ppt)Origins of Wage Gap:There are many different explanations as to why this gender wage gap exists today. But two of the most prevalent ones are maternity based discrimination, and gender biases experience during early childhood education may play a huge role in it. (Washington Center of Equitable Growth). A lot of these biases are unconscious, which leads to inequality in the workplace. Therewere two studies done looking at how this implicit biases affect women in different facets of life.
