Introduction to Multi-Disciplinary Simulations By Dr. Roy P. Koomullil The goal of this work is to provide a brief introduction to multi-disciplinary simulations. Such models and simulations would greatly assist the design process before prototypes would have to be physically built and tested. Multi-discipline engineering includes various engineering disciplines and tools required to conduct the research. It requires the experience and resources to know exactly when – and exactly how – to address the technical challenges. There are three different approaches to analyze any fluid dynamic problems, theoretical approach, experimental approach, and computational approach. To do any computational fluid analysis, it requires fundamental laws such as conservation of mass, conservation of momentum, and conservation of energy. By combining these fundamental laws, it will give us fundamental equation which is called as Navier-Stokes equation and engineers always try to solve this non-linear equation to get the accurate solution.
