Jacobs 1 Since political parties were created, Republicans and Democrats have understandably seen issues very differently. Not only do they see things differently, some issues that one party is extremely concerned about, the other party simply refuses to acknowledge. One of the biggest issues Republicans and Democrats refuse to agree on is climate change. The Democratic party tends to agree more with the Green party, while the Republican party is virtually opposite of both of these parties. Climate change is the idea that the world is changing in temperature, causing all kinds of reactions. When brought up in political settings, the question tends to not be “Is the world changing?” so much as it is “Are humans causing the changes in the world?”. The most conservative Republicans believe that no, the world is not changing, but even if it were, it would not be because of what people are doing. In Pew’s political survey in January of this year, Republicans and Democrats were asked what issues should be top priorities in the government this year, sixty-seven percent of Democrats said climate change should be a top priority; opposed to only twenty-one percent of Republicans (Bowman).
