Topic 4 DQ 2 Compare and contrast two change theories, and determine which theory makes the most sense for implementing your specific EBP project. Why? Has your mentor used either theory, and to what result? While clinicians widely accept that evidence-based practice is the ethically appropriate standard in provision of care, statistics inform that successful progression of translation of research into practice is challenged, at best (Mitchell, 2013). Therefore, intentional method of process improvement should include identification of an applicable change theory in which to optimally strategize the proposed change (Mitchell, 2013). Lewin’s theory of change establishes three stages of change progression through which a systemic change evolves. These stages involve the unfreezing of a phenomena or process, followed by the moving, which occurs when the change is initiated (Mitchell, 2013). Finally, the refreezing stage represents the phase in which equilibrium is recovered following the change action (Mitchell, 2013). This theory addresses change as a dynamic process in which force
