QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS FOR A RESEARCH ON COOKIE TIME NEW ZEALAND 2 Introduction The research paper discuses data quantitatively on the customer preference on the an eco-friendly packing strategy got Cookie Time. Statistics NZ released a report in 2018 outlining the role packaging plays in increasing the available plastic in circulation. The report attributed about 40% of the plastic to packaging material various companies used. The New Zealand government has consequently aimed at completely eradicating the use of plastics in the packaging of goods by companies. The report also states that of all the residents, more than 74% of them prefer the use of biodegradable packages. This report shows that a large portion of the nation's population is in full appreciation of the situation in which non-biodegradable materials put the environment. (STATISTICS NZ, 2018) The use of non-biodegradable plastics has affected the environment adversely. A report by Euromonitor International in 2018 advocating for use of biodegradable material exclusively stated that this would reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by 68%. This report among others makes consumers aware of the dangers posed by non-biodegradable plastics. This is why many as would be expected to support the use of biodegradable packaging methods exclusively. Biodegradable materials, if used for packaging, would disintegrate upon disposal and revert into their primary compounds. They leave the environment clean and richer for it. (Euromonitor International, 2018) Few food-related businesses had switched to the use of biodegradable packaging according to a report in 2018. The numbers indicated that only 14% had taken the initiative. These numbers are low considering the environmental concerns connected with the use of non- biodegradable materials. Therefore, more than 60% of the consumers across New Zealand prefer the use of the biodegradables as compared to the other types of plastics used across the country.
