To save lives and prevent preventable fatalities by car accidents, the USA has laws that require drivers of motor vehicles as well as their passengers to wear a seat belt while operating a motor vehicle or being a vehicle that is in motion. There are some differences in individual states on seat belt law with some states requiring the use of front seat belt use while other states require and enforce that any passenger of a car bust wear a seat belt irrespective of if they are in the frontof not. Other states do not require people travelling in buses to wear seat belts, and although there are variations of how this law is enforced across states and how much one is fined for seat belt violation, the law is widely observed in the USA. 1.Does the proposed policy seek to achieve a compelling health objective? Is the healthpurpose(s) of the policy clearly and narrowly defined?The seat belt law was enacted to reduce death by motor vehicle accidents and after many research studies, it was determined that wearing of seat belts was a good way reducing preventable car accident deaths. Seat belts prevent many death and serious injuries and save more than fifteen thousand lives a year because drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred (Youth for Road Safety, 2012).
