Dear Young Neighbor,
Deciding to go into the technology field is a good decision. If you love technology and all
it is capable of, a rewarding future could be in store for you in the tech world. However, you
must be prepared to work hard and be ready to constantly learn in a field that is always growing
and changing. Based on my experience and research, I have some advice for you as you move
forward in achieving your career goals.
My first piece of advice is to research different jobs in the computer and networking
field. There are many different areas that you could choose to focus in, and this will determine
how you should set up your milestones and goals to get you the job you want. For example, if
you wish to go into programming and coding you will want to either begin learning on your own
and gaining experience or you should seek a degree in computer science, software development,
software engineering, and similar degrees. If you decide you would like to go into information
security or networking, there are degree programs that focus in those areas as well. You will
however find that these degrees can be interchangeable, especially if you have the experience to
match.
