● “When addressing commitment , Krzyzewski believes leaders have to let players
have the freedom to show their personal commitment to the organization. “If
people invest in something, they are more likely to become valued members of
the organization” (Krzyzewski, 2000, p. 207).
● Coach K’s pursuit is always for excellence . If excellence is attained, then
success naturally follows. He is also a firm believer in not allowing someone else
to define excellence for him. You should do what you do because you love it.
● Teaching was something Krzyzewski believes is of major importance in
transferring knowledge to his team, becoming a great teacher meant you were a
good leader.
● Very similar to Coach Wooden, In the sense that you want the athlete to have a
positive experience .allowing them to be excited to succeed rather being afraid to
fail.

● “at the heart of character is honesty and integrity .”
● As a leader you need confidence. You also need to help team members realize their
confidence. It is more than just saying to them you are confident in their abilities.
