Introduction:Perception is a process by which individual organise and interpret their sensory impressions inorder to give meaning to the environment. In other words, Perception means the state of being orprocess of becoming aware of something through the senses. It has a great role in the evolutionprocess of human beings.Perception is how you see the world and relate to everything around you. It is how youunderstand and internalize everything you experience. Behind this perception there isconsciousness. Five senses play the role in the perception process. Perception is imprint. Later isconverts into thoughts then emotions which cause suffering. Then in order to get rid of thesuffering a person tries to find out its true identity.[ CITATION IED16 \l 1033 ]Perception is the organization, identification, and interpretationof sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment. According toJoseph Reitz; “Perception includes all those processes by which an individual receivesinformation about his environment—seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling.”In simplewords, we can say that perception is the act of seeing what is there to be seen. But what is seen isinfluenced by the perceiver, the object and its environment.IMPORTANCE OF PERCEPTION:Perception is a subjective, active and creative process through which we assign meaning tosensory information to understand ourselves and others. It is important because:1.Perception is very important in understanding human behavior because every personperceives the world and approaches life problems differently.2.If people behave on the basis of their perception, we can predict their behavior in thechanged circumstances by understanding their present perception of the environment.3.With the help of perception, the needs of various people can be determined, becausepeople’s perception is influenced by their needs.4.Perception is very important for the manager who wants to avoid making errors whendealing with people and events in the work setting. This problem is made morecomplicated by the fact that different people perceive the same situation differently.
