My first thoughts after looking at both candidate’s speeches were the total and utter disrespect showed by Mr. Mondale and Mrs. Ferrarro. If you go back and watch the debates between President Reagan and President Carter, Reagan always shows respect and courtesy to President Carter and also address’s him as “President or President Carter”. During the acceptance speeches by Mondale and Ferrarro both candidates repeatedly address President Reagan as “MR. Reagan” continually through out both videos. Personally, I found this very disrespectful. What also stood out in my mind was the fact that President Carter never had the loyalty much less respect of his own party during his tenure in office. Mondale being his former Vice President would have been fully aware of this and unless he stabbed his own boss (Carter) in the back, and his speech alludes to himself distancing himself from Carter, he just does not come across as a candidate I would trust or believe in.
