Remley C. Fraley Prospectus HIUS 445 April 8 th , 2019. Topic : Was President Reagan a strong, independent President or was he merely a puppet? Ronald Wilson Reagan is known to the world as being the 40 th president of the United States as being a highly successful governor and later President. While his past as an actor seemed to haunt his future in politics people are still asking was he a man of substance or just an actor playing a role. Did the President have any role in his own administration or was he once again an actor reading his script while the Country and his Presidency were managed by others. Reagan has been shown by different authors as a man of authority as well as humility and wit. The President has said himself that he was a “Big Picture” guy and he did not believe in micro managing. While there is also the argument that this was a problem with Reagans administration (i.e. Oliver North) some pundits argue that the President was stricken with Alzheimer’s while in office. Regardless of speculation I would love to delve into and hopefully prove that President Reagan was no puppet to anyone.
