PERT AND CPM I PERT stands for Project Evaluation and Review Technique and CPM stands for the Critical Path Method. This is also called project networks, and these techniques have been very successfully used in many applications, including: Scheduling production projects. Scheduling the movement of a 400 bed hospital in Portland Oregon. Installing a new computer system. Designing and marketing a new product. Completing a corporate merger. Building a ship, or an aircraft. Saigal (U of M) IOE 310 1 / 16

FORMULATION I Make a list of activities to be performed. List the predecessors of each activity in this list. Develop the project network. In this network, activities are associated with arcs and we call it an AOA network, or ACTIVITY ON ARC network. Saigal (U of M) IOE 310 2 / 16

FORMULATION CONTINUED I The AOA representation is called the project network or project diagram . Rules: Node 1 represents the start of the project, and all activities which have no predecessors should leave node 1. A node called the finish node, representing the end of the project should be included. The nodes should be numbered in such a way that the start node of each activity should have a lower number than the finish node. An activity should be represented by exactly one arc. Two nodes should be connected by at most one arc.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
