Personal Museum
Everyone has their own taste when it comes to art. It can come from pictures or relics that
have been passed down from one generation to another. These relics create a sort of personal
museum that shows your most meaningful treasures of art.
For me; in my museum, I have a
couple pieces of art that describes my values, personality and history of my family.
They include
a movie poster,
a jewelry box, a piano, and a Letterman’s jacket.
All of these pieces have
significant meaning and history behind them.
Growing up, my mother has always told me stories of when she managed the Trolley
Square movie theater in downtown Salt Lake.
This was during the late eighties and early
nineties. One of the many perks of managing a movie theater was collecting the movie posters
that have been taken down from the marquee. One of these movie posters is hanging in my
bedroom
It’s an original Disney’s Beauty and the Beast movie poster which is mounted and
framed.
It was given with love to me, by my mother .
I consider this priceless. It’s fairly big in
size, the colors are a very soft amber and in the middle is a Silhouette of Belle and the Beast
dancing. This piece of art reflects the definition of John Berger belief about art.
