He has also shown his philanthropic drive by encouraging his employees to participate in activities that raise funds for philanthropy. Today, he is ranked as one of the richest people in the world with a net worth of $5.1 billion (Schawbel, 2014). Thus, Richard Branson’s success illustrates his exemplary leadership qualities. Key Elements of Richard Branson’s Leadership Style and the Impact His Business SuccessFirstly, Sir Richard Branson’s has attributed his success to his ability to leverage on his passions. To this end, Branson has displayed the ability to take risks on extraordinary ventures such as the Virgin Galactic and most recently the electric vehicle race competition. However, as arisk taker, the billionaire entrepreneur has always ensured that the risks are calculated to avoid adverse effects on his companies, should the venture fail. His famous investing term is “protecting the downside,” which means limiting risk (Feloni, 2014). This approach to business enabled him to convince his partners to join him is starting an airline in 1984, which is now a brand that is recognized worldwide. Another aspect of Sir Branson’s leadership style that has enabled him to grow the Virgin brand to where it is today is his knack for philanthropy.
