Ashley XiongProfessor SchoolcraftENG 12215 October 2019Increase Sex EducationOver forty percent of boys and girls reported having sexual intercourse by the ageeighteen. This percentage has decreased by seventeen percent since 1988 but sexual interaction isstill happening today and can increase if good sex ed is not provided (Charles). I remember onlyhaving a half of a semester of sex ed in middle school, and it was based around why kids shouldbe abstinence or the risk of having sex. It only briefly taught me that condoms can prevent therisks such as pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Society must increase good sexeducation to teach teens the risk of unprotected sex, as well as provide free condoms to kids. The thought of having the birds and the bees talk with parents is always an awkwardtopic to overcome but increasing good sex education is a way to start. As a child, my mother wasin charge of giving the talk since my father was no longer in our lives. My mother never gave meor any of my siblings this awkward conversation even though she knew we were sexually active.
