Hamlet’s Soliloquy - very gloomy - knows that it’s against God to kill himself, but it wasn’t, he would Hamlet - Father = sun god, Uncle = goat feet; so angry with her mother that he’s calling her a harlet Hamlet - “frailty, thy name is woman” Horatio comes to see Hamlet Hamlet - I think I see my father Horatio - what? Hamlet - In my mind (memories) Horatio - Well... funny you mention - tells him about the ghost Hamlet - something must be wrong for this to happen Act 1 Scene 3 Laertes - (to Ophelia) be careful with Hamlet - he can’t be with you b/c he’s a prince and you’re not royal - you should cut it off Polonius - (to Laertes) don’t make me look bad Polonius - (to Ophelia) - you’ve been hanging out with Hamlet and you need to stop Ophelia - he tells me that he loves me though Polonius - yeah right Ophelia - I do not know what I should think (weak character) - easily manipulated Polonius - regard yourself better or you’re gonna make me look bad - HIS image - “Be careful or you will tinder yourself a fool” - fool = stupid and/or baby - double entendres
